Shiraz 2017

The fruit is sourced from Nairne, the Shinning Rock Vineyard (planted 2000) which is 400m above sea level. The vineyard is planted to 4 Shiraz/Syrah clones. Similar schist found here as the legendary Côte-Rôtie appellation of France. We hand picked the fruit and conducted a bunch of small ferments. 25% new French oak. There was a sulphur addition prior to bottling. No fining or filtration. A total of 180 dozen produced. Fun & juicy but with a serious look on the face. Slightly tart plums say hello and beautiful cracked white pepper says goodbye. Rich mulberries, blueberries and toasted cinnamon. Fine tannins give way to a persistent, luscious medium palate expressing amazing restraint, the way cool climate Shiraz should.
